Cave Tubing and Zip Lining

Cave Tubing and Zip Lining

A transfer from Belize City on the very scenic Western Highway brings us to the Caves Branch River at Jaguar Paw Resort. We will travel through its winding path to the Mayan mountains and numerous ancient caves once inhabited by the Mayan people. Upon arrival, we will start the day with the Zip Line Tour. Aerial Trek Canopy Tour offers the exhilarating experience of soaring through the jungle, right above the broadleaf forest floor. This involves traversing from one platform to another along a steel cable suspended up to eighty feet above the ground. Once completed with this part of the tour lunch is served. Next, we will hike for forty-five minutes down a jungle trail to the entrance tunnel that heads into the underground cave system. Our guide hands out flashlights and we are ready to float in an inner tube as the gentle current helps us make our way through the cave system.

Lagoon Kayak Tour

Lagoon Kayak Tour

We will join one of the trained staff members for a lagoon kayak tour behind the property. It is common to catch a glimpse of crocodiles, juvenile fish populations, and a variety of rare birds prevalent in Belize. The canopied canal ways leading from lagoon to lagoon display a variety of orchids, termite nests and a host of other interesting sights.

Lamanai Ruins by Boat

Lamanai Ruins by Boat

This is the Highway to Tower Hill. Here, we will once again board another boat that will take us down the winding New River Lagoon for forty-five minutes where Belizean wildlife at its best comes alive. We will encounter the many species of birds, monkeys, crocodiles, interesting plant life, and culture as we pass the Amish and Mestizo communities along the way. Once at Lamanai, lunch is served along with sodas, beers, and rum punch. Lamanai, also translated to submerged crocodile, is dated a pre-classic structure in the Mundo Maya. This is the only Maya site in Belize that has its own private museum, where all the artifacts found by the archaeologist, Pendergast and his team, are kept. Our experienced tour guide also provides a detailed and informative briefing on all of the artifacts. The tour covers approximately five to eight of the Lamanai Maya Temples. While touring this site, huge masks depicting dead rulers and gods seem to materialize out of the rainforest amid the chatter of bird life and the haunting call of the Howler monkeys. Our guide will point out the Copal and Raman trees, which were of great importance in ancient times. After a completely once in a lifetime experience, a leisurely journey back will retire our day.
